Cycle for Survival was held about two weeks ago and I have good news and great news. First the good news: As you may recall, my plan was to be an enthusiastic cheerleader. However, plans change, and due to the cajoling of my fellow posse members... I got on the bike and rode. It was hard, as it is been close to two years that I have done any significant exercise.
It felt great to get my legs moving again! My plan is to continue to train -- I renewed my gym membership this week -- with the goal of riding the Pan-Mass this summer. This feels wildly ambitious at this point (the Pan-Mass is 192 miles), as I can barely contemplate riding one loop of Central Park, only 6.2 miles.
Now, the great news. The event raised in excess of $4.5 million, with Paul's Posse raising in excess of $43,000. The importance of all that money was made crystal clear the night of the event. Over a well-earned dinner, my friend and doctor Dr. Gary Schwartz explained how he's continuing to put the Cycle for Survival money to work in his research. In just a few years, Cycle for Survival has funded a total of thirteen clinical trials and studies.
Thank you again for your love, support -- for this event that means more and more to me every year. The exhilaration of getting on the bike that morning was matched only by my gratitude.
Thrive On,
Paul
