Howdy
Well, it's that time of year again: the Pan-Mass Challenge is upon us!
As most of you know, I've ridden in this amazing event for the past 12 years. It's a two-day, 192-mile cycling event that raises money to support the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Last year, the PMC raised $31million to fight cancer.
Paul's Posse has been a proud and dedicated supporter of the cause. Our 2009 total was $231,768, an amazing number in the depths of a tough economic time. All of that money -- 100% -- went to support the incredible work of my friend and physician, Dr. George D. Demetri at Dana-Farber.
I am sorry to report that my body may conspire against me this year. The aftermath of my latest surgery may put me on the sidelines as a reluctant -- but VERY ENTHUSIASTIC -- cheerleader.
I didn't pick this fight with cancer, but I remain ferocious. Enduring three major abdominal surgeries has only made me stronger and more determined to take each month, week and day as a gift.
This latest turn of events makes me all the more motivated to once again ask for your generosity for this very worthy cause. Please do whatever you can.
I have attached a link to a video for your viewing pleasure. ThriveOn.mov. My friend Sharon Sullivan produced this video to share my story of Thriving and encourage everyone to support this important cause. I think it captures beautifully what the PMC, and Paul's Posse, are all about. Watching it reminds me of how fortunate I am to have friends like you! (Please feel free to pass on a link to this blog so someone else can see the video)
You can use your credit card to make a donation on line http://www.pmc.org/mypmc/profiles.asp?Section=story&eGiftID=PS0036 .
I thrive on,
Paul
