I'm back and with an attitude!
………a totally positive and energized attitude to conquer cancer – one of the biggest killers in America!
After spending two grumpy years on the sidelines with post-surgery complications, I'm thrilled to tell you I'll be on the bike again this August for the 2 day, 192 mile Pan Mass Challenge. The layoff has meant grueling training -- muscle memory is a myth when it comes to the PMC. Luckily, I’m riding with a world-class medical support team (most people just have a mechanical team; I've got physicians!). Not only is my good friend and doctor from Dana-Farber, George Demetri again riding this year, but also joining me is my friend and physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Gary Schwartz and his wife Connie (also a physician).
I will train; I will ride; I will finish; and I will Thrive.
Please join me in leaving nothing to chance, both on the PMC and more importantly, in the fight against cancer.
I'm sure you too want to know where your hard-earned philanthropic dollars are going. Here it is: 100% of the money Paul's Posse raises goes to George at Dana-Farber, to continue his life-saving vital work on orphan cancers, such as mine. If you want proof of impact, look no further than me. George was key to the drug developments combating my cancer. He did not simply change my life, he and others like him, saved it!
It's impossible to overstate how important this life-saving work is to me. I deeply believe in the mission of these doctors an researchers and am asking you to join me in furthering their work. It saved my life…it might save yours or a loved ones, next. This work must continue.
Paul, In addition to your financial support, I'd like to ask a personal favor. It would be wonderful if you would solicit a donation from just one other friend or family member, and insure that if your
employer has a matching program, that they too participate in this worthy work. Just think of how much more we can accomplish in our effort to rid our lives of this horrible disease if we broaden our network of giving.
Your tax-deductible check can be made payable to PMC/Jimmy Fund and you can mail it to me. Alternatively, you can use your redit card to make a donation on line ww.pmc.org/mypmc/profiles.asp?Section=story&eGiftID=PS0036 . If you have questions please do not hesitate to call me at (212) 687-3123 or e-mail [email protected].
Thank you for what you have already done. Not a day passes that I don’t recognize that it has been your support that allows me to keep working towards conquering this killer, but I still need your help.
Thrive on,
Paul
Here is a link to a video that was created by Gary Schwartz’s daughter Katherine, who is a sophomore at Wellesley College. She wanted to tell my story of Thriving. I think it captures beautifully what the PMC and Paul's Posse are all about. Watching it reminds me of how fortunate I am! Please share this note, so others can see the video.
Paul,
Ralph and I are very happy and excited for you! You are always in our thoughts, in our prayers, and in pour hearts. With fondest memories...
